Background
Delayed by the pandemic, Expo 2020, a ‘festival of human ingenuity’, featured input from 192 countries on a 438-hectare site between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Brief
Expo 2020 contracted EFM Global to assist with door-to-door freight for 68 Assisted Pavilions – the organisation funding a 40ft container from and to each of those participant countries, primarily in Central and South America, Africa and the Pacific Islands. Commodities for shipping included valuable artefacts, cultural displays and food and beverage items for resale.
Delivery
Having completed a site survey at the origin, EFM compiled packing lists, together with export documentation advising on HS Codes and any additional permit requirements for export. EFM managed sea freight with shipping lines, to deadline, all Dubai import procedures and working with Expo 2020’s Delivery Management System for site access. EFM reversed the process to return freight to the source post-event.
Result
EFM Global delivered on time, to budget, and Expo 2020 ran from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, attracting more than 24m visits.
